Anniversary Quilt

I love this quilt.  My husband and I recently celebrated our 20th anniversary.  We had been planning a couple of nights in the Hunter Valley but my husband ended up having to attend a conference in Canberra at the same time so I just went along with him.  Actually he flew down on the Monday night as it was winter and he had to be there first thing Tuesday and couldn't risk the airport being closed with fog.  I had to drop son number two (a.k.a the guitar hero) off to a friend's place so I drove down after that and toured all the quilt shops between here and Canberra.  Lovely.  While David conferenced I enjoyed the comfort of the Hyatt (very nice of the company) and visited every quilt shop I could find in Canberra.  Before leaving home I got out this lovely yellow border fabric and designed the quilt i would make out of it on my return.  Whilst away I set about choosing all the fabrics I would need to go with it.

The flower blocks came from a pattern called Charming Flowers from a book called "Simply Charming, fun, fast and fabulous charm pack quilts" by Moose on the Porch Quilts (great name!) http://www.moosequilts.com/
I think it is a great block and am planning another  scrap quilt using it as some point in the future.

I still have quite a bit of the border fabric left and am thinking that it will make a nice quilt for Quilts for Keeps (see http://jantsutopia.com.au/Galleries-of-Quilts/quilts-for-keeps-project.html).

I used the border fabric for the back, just added the red and white stripe to each side to make it wide enough. I really like the binding too - a girlfriend showed it to me and it is just like rick rack and was just the right colour.  Sorry but I am not yet good at keeping track or who makes what fabrics but I will try to get better for future posts.

It is such a bright and cheery quilt and the yellow is the same colour as the walls of my sewing room so that is where it lives.
